How to promote yourself as a Pro Gamer Tutor

How do you promote yourself to get more bookings?

As you are aware you are now an official gamer tutor if you are listed on this site. You are working in something you love and getting paid for it. But if you are not getting any bookings, you may aswell call it a day. There is a few ways to get yourself noticed to get more bookings.

Be competitive with your pricing per hour

Check your rates with other gamers in your category. If they are cheaper than you, match them or go 1รง cheaper. Don't overprice yourself, we are in a recession. The only tutors who can charge top dollar are the well known Pro Gamers.

You can offer structured lessons now, if you edit your listing (click here). You can see the new form at the bottom. Add your bulk price and what you offer and people will rather book a session and save.

Add more than one application

You can add as many applications as possible. The main rule is that it isn't a duplicate of another form. I.e. Same game and same character. You can add more applications for:

  • Different games
If you are a master at Forza 2 and Halo 3. Why not have 2 applications, one for each game.
  • Different characters / roles in games
A typical example would be one application for Ken in Street Fighter 4 & one for Chun-li.
  • Different rates per training level
As in your rate for Beginners / Intermediates is $8 per hour & your advanced / Pro training is $12 per hour

The method to this madness is that Google will be your best friend. If someone types into Google 'Pro Gamer in x for Game name / character training'. You would be in the top 10. The more applications, the more chances of being hit with Google and found by the search results for our paying customers.

Advertise with your personal banner

Yep, every tutor on the site has their own personal banner. To see your banner goto your listing. Scroll down, under your listing you will see your banner with the source code.

You can use the HTML code for your website, myspace, clans website & some forums.

BB Code is used in popular forums, make it your signature. People will see your advert and go straight to your listing.

Social marketing tips. Add your profile website address to Twitter, Facebook, forums, myspace... use your head.

Keywords and selling yourself on your application

Be smart with Keywords, especially with your title. This is the most important text box as it contains the keywords that will get picked up in Google. A bad example of a title would be 'SF4 tutor', as it doesnt say what you are. A good example would be 'Ken Street Fighter 4 Champion tactics for online training in America'. Google will index your page, and if someone types into Google 'Pro Gamer Ken training' chances are you will be in the top 10. Google can take up to 2-4 weeks to index your application, once done well you will see the difference in visitors and bookings.

The tutors who have been booked so far came from tutors who sold themselves well. Put as much information on the forms, try not to sound too cocky or arrogant. Customers do not want to feel intimidated by you. Be polite, be straight to the point and show you are more than capable of tutoring them.

If you won a tournament 3 years ago, put it on. The more on your resume the better. Imaging if you were a customer reading your application, would you book yourself? Look at other tutors and see what they are doing what you are not.

Don't lie or oversell yourself

Don't say your a pro gamer when you are not. Being a liar will always come at a consequence as if someone isnt happy with you. They will get a full refund and you will be struck from the site. Only sell that you know you can do, customers are paying for a service and will know if you don't know about something. Just be yourself and people will respect you for it.
