Incorporating the following ten tips into your Scrin play will greatly increase your effectiveness in your play. These tips are some tips that we thought are the most important ones to follow and never forget as a Scrin player.
#10. Tripod EMP
The Annihilator Tripod has a short range EMP attack it can use on Enemy Vehicles and Buildings. There is no button that you click to activate it. It will automatically effect an enemy unit if you attack it at short range (You will have to manually click on that unit for the EMP to activate). This ability is extremely useful to use on Production Structures, Base Defenses and Tier 3 units.
#9. Battle Repairs
The Scrin have the ability to repair their units right on the battlefield. You can use Corrupters (Force Fire on your units) or Reconstruction Drones(Support Power) to repair your units away from your base. Repairing your units during a fight with either of these techniques will reduce casualties and even turn the tide of the battle in your favor. These are especially helpful in the small scale battles that take place after all the tiberium runs out.
#8. Last Resort
Thats right, the Mothership! When all seems lost you can still win the game in a very dramatic and insulting way. There are many ways to win the game with the Mothership so just use your imagination.
#7. Ion Storms
Ion storms can be created by Storm Columns and Planetary Assault Carriers(PACs). They both heal and buff your scrin air craft. They are also a great way to defend your air force. Always keep your Air force in them when not it's not in use. Also, never forget the PAC's ability to create them; however it can only be done while stationary. Keep the storm up all the time while not moving.
#6. Shock Troopers
Shock Troopers are the Scrin heavy infantry and make a wonderful addition to your late game army. They can't be run over by smaller vehicles and are extremely powerful. Always upgrade them with Plasma Disc Launchers but only use Blink Packs if you have extra money.
#5. Late Game Anti-Air
As mighty as your Tripods, Devastator Warships and Planetary Assault Carriers may be, they are all vulnerable to Air Craft (Firehawks, Venoms and Stormriders for example). PACs Ion Storms help but are often not enough alone. As you enter the late game and start to use them it is always a good idea to support them with an Anti-Air unit. Some good units to use for this are Upgraded Shock Troopers, Gun Walkers, or your own Stormriders.
#4. Buzzers
Buzzers are one of the most useful, versatile units the Scrin have at their disposal. There are many ways of using them such as Scouting, Anti-Infantry clearing structures or rushing Tiberium Spikes. They are cheap, have a good visual range and are fast. You get them from the Portal, "The Swarm" and Buzzer hives. They are the second best Scrin Anti-Infantry unit next to the Devastator Warship killing even the toughest infantry in seconds. Move them right through the enemy infantry for the best effect. If you are placing the swarm to counter moving infantry, put them right in the path of the infantry.
#3. Growth Accelerators
Growth Accelerator's are queued up in any Support Structures tab(even the Foundry's). They can only be placed in the middle of a Tiberium Field. When placed they increase the production of that field by 50%. They are great to put on blue tiberium fields early and can be game changing when placed on all your fields late game.
#2. Mastermind
This game changing unit has the ability to teleport units and mind control. Out of all the commando's the Mastermind is the most versatile. Mind control key enemy structures and either sell them off or use their ground control for countless opportunities. Mind control is also great to use on powerful enemy units in battle. The Teleport abilty has many uses as well. Just use your imagination!
#1. Tech up
It may seem obvious, but it is still the most important. Scrin has the strongest late game out of all the factions so it is vital that you reach this point. Scrin has a fairly week early game so you won't be able to make a true offensive until you tech to you powerful Tier 3. Harass with seekers/lightning spikes or defend yourself with Devourer tanks while you tech.
